Theodoros Skylakakis

Mr. Theodoros Skylakakis is an economist.

On 8 March 2006 he was appointed Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2003 to February 2006, he served as Deputy Mayor of the City of Athens and Deputy Mayor for Finance, while also chairing the Mayoral Committee. In 2003-2004, he was also responsible for preparing the City of Athens for the Olympic Games. He has also served as Chairman of the Organization for Tourism and Economic Development of Athens (2005-2006) and Chairman of Dipli Anaplasi S.A. (2006).

He graduated with honours from the Economics Department of the University of Athens in 1981.

He holds an MBA from the City University of London and a Diploma in Market Research from the British Market Research Society.

He has also served as advisor to the Prime Minister (1989), advisor to the Minister of National Defence (1989-1990), and advisor to the Prime Minister and Director of the Prime Ministers Planning and Communication Bureau (1990-1993).

He was Director General of the E21 Research Centre from 1994 to 1999.

He has worked extensively in the communication sector (1985-2006).

Mr. Theodoros Skylakakis was born in October 1959, is married to Ms. Eleni Papapanou, who is a lawyer, and has two daughters.
